Subscription

Subscriptions

Let one agent read another agent's documents and use its skills, without copying them.

A subscription lets one agent read another agent's documents and use its skills, live. Nothing is copied, so the subscriber always sees the source's latest version.

For example, a Reporting agent can read Bookkeeping's current ledgers. Client-facing agents can use a House Style agent's templates and skills.

Sharing gives a person access to an agent. A subscription gives an agent access to another agent's content. It never gives anyone the source agent itself.

Subscribe an agent

Subscribe an agent to another
  1. 1

    Open the Subscribe tab

Open the agent, then the Subscribe tab in the Computer panel.

  2. 2

    Open the dialog

Click Subscribe, or the ⊕ beside the heading.

  3. 3

    Find the source

Expand a source agent. The search box finds agents, single documents and skills.

  4. 4

    Tick what it should read

Tick the parts you want. Each tick saves as you go.

  5. 5

    Close

Click Done. The source's content now shows in this agent, and its chat can read it.

The Subscribe dialog with a source agent expanded to All, Skills, All documents, Root documents and its folders. All documents is ticked.

What you can tick

OptionWhat the agent gets
AllEverything below, in one tick
SkillsThe source's skills. See Subscribing skills
All documentsThe source's documents, its tasks' documents included
Root documents or a folderPart of its documents. See Subscribing documents
Connector toolsThe source's connection. Shown only if you own it

Ticks follow the source as it changes. A Personal Assistant lends its documents only, never its skills or tools.

The Subscribe tab lists each source with its picture. The agent's chat can find, read and search what you subscribed. It reaches one step only. It sees what the source owns, not what the source subscribes to.

Who can subscribe

Only the owner and people with Full access can subscribe an agent or remove a subscription. Editors and viewers see the list only.

You can only subscribe to agents you can already read. An agent can't subscribe to itself or to its own tasks.

A shared agent can only subscribe to agents you own. An unshared agent can subscribe to anything you can read. An agent that subscribes to someone else's agent can't be shared until you remove that subscription.

What people you share with get

When you share an agent that has subscriptions, everyone who can see it reads the subscribed documents and skills. They read them, but they can't change them from this agent.

  • They never get the source agent itself.
  • They can't see its chats, history or tasks.
  • The source never appears in their menu or search.
Connector tools lend your connection

Only a connector's owner can tick Connector tools. On a shared agent, everyone who can edit it then works through your connection. See Connectors.

Read-only or Can edit

Every subscription starts as Read-only. Nobody can change the source's documents from the subscribing agent.

Can edit is not available yet in most workspaces. Where it is, an Access row appears under a source that has documents ticked.

AccessWhat it allows
Read-onlyEveryone who can see the agent reads the documents
Can editPeople who can edit the agent edit and add documents in the subscribed folders

Only the source's owner or an org admin can change Access. Viewers stay read-only either way. Deleting always stays with the source, and skills are never editable through a subscription.

Stop a subscription

Choose Un-subscribe from a source's ⋯ menu in the Subscribe tab. To remove every source, click Un-subscribe All in the dialog, then Confirm.

The content disappears from the agent at once. The source and its documents are untouched.
