Skills
Creating a skill
Turn a set of instructions into a skill your whole team can run.
If you can write a good chat message, you can write a skill.
Create one
- Open the Skills tab in the agent's Computer panel.
- Click the ⊕ beside the Skills heading. On an empty list, click Skill.
- Type a name and press Enter.
- Fill in the editor.
- Click Save.
| Field | What to put |
|---|---|
| Name | Short and action-shaped, like "Log invoice" |
| Description | One line on when to use it |
| Model | A pinned model, or None |
| Run Button | False hides it from people, not the agent |
| Activation | On demand (default) or Always on |
| Instructions | The procedure, with @ to reference documents |
The description is how people and the agent find the skill. The Markdown tab shows the whole skill as plain text.
Skills live on the main agent. Tasks can't have their own.
Or ask the agent
After a job goes well, ask the agent to save it as a skill. It drafts the skill and shows an approval card before saving. Saving or changing a skill always asks, in every permission mode.
Supporting files
Add templates and examples, up to 50 per skill. Open the skill's folder in the Skills tab and use its Documents button. You can also drag files from your computer onto a skill, and drag skills to reorder them.
Instructions that hold up
- Write numbered steps, in order.
- Pin the format: columns, dates, rounding, tone.
- Say what to do when a field is missing.
- Attach an example and say "format it like this".
Test, then trust
Run the skill on a real example in a fresh task, so old chat doesn't help it. Fix and rerun until you get two clean runs. Updating a skill covers the edits.
An Always-on skill adds its full text to every message to the agent and its tasks. If Always on isn't switched on for your workspace yet, it works like On demand. Default to On demand.
