Agents
What your agent sees
Exactly what an agent can and can't read.
If the agent ignored the file you meant, it probably didn't have it. An agent only works with what is in front of it, and Agent Hero is precise about what that is.
What the agent can see
- This conversation
- Its own documents, including its tasks' documents
- Files you attach and documents you @-mention
- The document and folder you have open
- Documents and skills from agents it subscribes to
- Live data from its connections, such as Xero or Outlook
- Its skills
Inside a task, it also reaches the parent's and sibling tasks' documents. See Creating task agent.
Subscriptions reach one step. The agent reads what the subscribed agents own, not what they subscribe to. Subscribed documents are read-only here. See Subscription.
What the agent cannot see
- Other agents' documents, unless subscribed or shared
- Other people's chats on the same shared agent
- Your screen, desktop files or unconnected systems
- Any workspace you are not currently in
- Today's news, prices or time, unless something provides them
The boundary is a feature. It lets you put real client data in an agent and know exactly what that agent, and anyone it is shared with, can reach.
Working with context
Put work where it belongs. If the bank statements live in your Bookkeeping agent, ask Bookkeeping, not your Personal Assistant.
Type @ to point at a specific document. Summarise @FY2026 P&L beats summarise the P&L when there are five.
Start a new task for a new topic. A chat that wandered across five topics carries five topics of noise. To wipe the current chat, type /clear and confirm. The agent keeps its documents and skills.
If the agent can't find something, check where you filed it. ⌘K searches every document you can reach and shows which agent holds it.
