Skills

Skills overview

Save your team's procedures so the agent follows them every time, and run them from chat.

A skill is a procedure saved into an agent, such as your month-end close or client report format. The agent then follows it every time, for everyone who uses that agent.

You stop re-typing the same instructions. And everyone who asks for "the report" gets the same format.

What's in a skill

Mostly instructions, the same words you'd type into chat:

When asked to log an invoice: extract supplier, date, number, line items, GST and total. Append a row to the invoice tracker. Amounts in cents, dates DD/MM/YYYY. If any field is unreadable, leave it blank and say which.

A skill can also carry up to 50 supporting files, like a template or rate card, and a preferred model.

Where skills live

Open the agent's Computer panel and choose the Skills tab. It lists every skill the agent can run.

Tasks use their agent's skills. No admin setting pushes skills to every agent. To share skills, share the agent or let other agents subscribe to it.

The Skills tab: the agent's own skills first, then two from a subscription, each marked with its source agent's picture.

Run a skill

There are three ways to run a skill, and they all do the same thing.

Type / in chat

Run a skill from chat
  1. Type / in the message box. The skill menu opens.
  2. Keep typing to search by name or description.
  3. Pick a skill. It lands in your message as a badge.
  4. Add your specifics and send.
/Log invoice, here are today's three, attached.
Type / in the message box. Each skill shows the agent it comes from.

If the skill pins a model, the chat's model picker switches to it and stays there. Switch back if you want.

Run it from the list

In the Skills tab, a skill's ⋯ menu has Run. It sends the skill straight away, so use it for skills that need no input.

Skills with Run Button set to False have no Run and aren't in the / menu. The agent can still use them.

Or just ask

The agent picks the right skill when your request matches. Asking "log these invoices" runs your invoice skill.

What happens when it runs

The instructions load into the turn. Tool calls, approvals and cost work as in any turn, and you can steer it as usual.

Skills from subscriptions and the Agents Library run the same way.

The description does the routing

The agent and the / search both match on a skill's description. If a skill isn't picked up, sharpen it.

The skills loop

  1. Re-typing instructions? Save them as a skill.
  2. Run it with / when the job comes up.
  3. When output drifts, update the skill once.
  4. For team work, put it on a shared agent.
