Documents
Editing documents
Edit in place, work alongside teammates and the agent, and go back to an earlier version.
Most work in Agent Hero is one loop. Ask for a document, open it, then refine it in place with the agent.

What you type is saved as you go, with no save step.
On an agent shared with you as a viewer, documents show Viewer, Cannot Edit. You can read them and browse their history, but not change them.
Edit together
Teammates with access can edit a note or a code document at the same time as you. Changes show live. In a note, you also see their cursors.
A Book's cells save one at a time, and everyone sees each change as it lands. See Books.
From ask to finished file
- Ask for the document, with the shape you want.
- Click Open on the card the agent posts.
- Ask for changes in chat while the document is open beside it.
The agent edits what it made instead of starting over. Try Add a totals row or Soften the tone of the second paragraph.
To point it at a file it didn't make, mention it, such as tidy up @reconcile.py. It edits that file in place instead of making a new one.
Describe the columns, sections and one-row-per-what you want, and the first draft lands closer. See Prompting.
When the agent's changes land
In the default permission mode, Auto-accept edits, changes run straight away. In Ask each time or Plan first, each change waits for your approval. Open the document beside the chat to watch changes land.
A Book is different. Every row the agent adds, changes or removes waits until a person approves it, whatever the mode. See Books.
When the agent saves over an Excel or Word file, the view updates by itself. If it hasn't caught up, click Reload file in the header.
Turn a reply into a document
Open the reply's ⋯ menu:
- Insert at cursor drops it into the open note.
- Replace editor content swaps the open note's content for it.
- Create document saves it as a new note titled "AI Response".
- Copy copies it to paste anywhere.
Insert at cursor and Replace editor content work only while a note is open beside the chat.
Rename, move and delete
To rename a document, click its title at the top. Or choose Rename in its row's ⋯ menu on the Documents tab.
To move it, drag its row onto a folder, or choose Move to… in the row's ⋯ menu. See Creating and uploading for folders.
To delete it, choose Delete in the row's ⋯ menu. Most open documents have Delete in their own ⋯ menu too. Deleting is permanent. To set aside a whole workstream, archive the agent or task instead. See Archive.
Version history
Notes and code documents keep versions you can preview and restore.
- Choose Version history from the open document's ⋯ menu.
- Click Save version to keep the current state.
- To go back, pick an earlier version from the list.
- Click Restore this version.
Cancel leaves without changing anything. The agent's changes are kept in the history too, so you can go back past them.
A Book keeps history per table, with Undo on each change. See Books.
Uploaded files, generated PDFs, artifacts and audio have no version history. To keep an earlier artifact, ask for a new one rather than a change.
